Your good letter of the
27/1 at hand I shall first write about the great Oregon Iron. The great concavities seem to be deep ? from the friction of air; They go somewhat ^con^ centric from the top of the iron and ^may^ be produced by the melting out of great ? - nodules of - cytin ore. They have not at all the character of weathering conlaerties, for this they are far too sharp; besides this there seem to exist bridges like those in Canon Diablo, Penkarring Rock, Joe Wright and Jan Christobal
