In order to open business relations, sends through Fletcher of Liverpool, a ease of [?] in Natural History. Altho[ugh] not yet able to send the desired adult male Gorilla, promises to forward the finer [tune?] specimen he expects to attain. Thus far he has only been able to kill an old male, which however being damaged (epidermis pulled off) he sold to Vienna. From the specimens sent you will see that he understands the preparation of material to insure preservation in spite of the unfavorable climate; and without arrogance thinks he may say that no one else can furnish better preserved skins.
