Lam to notes – he had been absent from [Pitts?], in coal repairs– also have expressed to you the three notes of $1466.68 each =$44.00, for [fair?]– seven & [illegible] months – covering the four notes, including the $400. Note I also enclosed a draft of $308, covering the $280 interest on the $400 & $28 interest on the $400 note due 28th just you may after receiving from the express office at Rochester, these papers, & after settling with your uncle & cousin – return the old notes to me [illegible] or endorsed as to the maleness of cost.
