[another hand- Ward] Cambridge, Nov 1st 1873 My dear Sir, Mr. Carey tells me that you ask for cash payment for the specimens I have asked you to prepare for the Museum. At the present time this is impossible. More over you will remember that when you offered me to do these things for us, you expressly stated that you did not expect ready money & would give me any amount of time I wanted for payment & that all you cared for was to know to what extent you would have employment for your men from the Museum.
