Prof Henry A. Ward,
Dear Sir: Yours of the 12th
has just been recd. and pleases me well. I have arranged my plans for leaving for Rochester the same night the term closes, in order that I may reach your place against the 18th of Nov. Of course I will be ready to begin immediately and stick to it. I should be willing to bind myself in the two particulars you mention, as it is very reasonable that I should. As far as the time is concerned I would not be willing to bind myself to stay over two years, but if I like the place it will be quite likely I should want to stay longer. Now
