Dear Prof. Ward,

    Your card of the 14th just at

hand. Emrich on North Water St. - if he has moved Bailly will know the address - made our last sup- ports for skeletons and he most probably has the pattern. Mr. Taylor is mistaken a year or perhaps two regarding the time that his birds were sent. They were Gold-winged Woodpecker and brown Blackbird. The former you took to replace one sent by a gentleman up the river; the fate of the latter is unknown. Mr. Taylor was written to regarding his birds but failed to put in an appearance or reply. Hune illat lachrymae. The S. A. T. looms. Hornaday reports that Wallace will have a tremendous exhibit which will surprise his friends and </s astonish h > silence his enemies. I will write in detail regarding the packing of </u my > exhibit, now stored in the attic of the Large Museum. It will leave there never to return., An announcement which doubtless fills you with joy.
