       Not having heard from

Prof. Mc Culloch, I send your letters to Genls. Stone, Field, & Colston. The first two were in the U. S. Army prior to 1861; and the last was Prof. of French at the Va. Mil. Institute (at this place) prior to that date. Genl. Stone was on the Federal side during the late war between the States, and the other two were on the Confederate side.

       I have had your check (for
