Prof Ward - Dear Sir ! At the time when I first entered your employment everything looked promising. After some time, however, considerable fault was found about my workmanship upon mammals and birds. I know that my methods is comparatively new to the one, which you are now using; but it has great promi= nence in Germany, Austria and Italy I have studied anatomy for several years and claim to have a fair knowledge of the same. In mounting birds, it is my intention to put in a body exactly the same size and pattern as the one removed, - a rule, which through diligent study and observation,, I have found to work with great advantage. My fishes, however. give good satisfaction and consequently was kept in this. My method of mounting fishes and whales is original. The Royal Museum at Stockhalus exhibited two whales at Berlin 1889 and one at London 1882-1883, accompanied by a large number of fishes, all of which I mounted, and they gave the greatest satisfaction and received the most attention of all. In writing you this letter I thought, I could explain my wishes more thoroughly.
