Dear Friend
I regret my absence from home
where thou wast so kind as to make a visit
to Bloomingdale, and I also regret that the
papers referred to are not on file here. At
the time of our last correspondence, I sent
my papers, letters, advertisements, prints etc.
to Josephus Collect, Pres. of the Board, hoping
that they might serve a purpose in prepar-
ing him and others in Terre Haute, for
orders for the Museum.
The Board has an order that when any
Trustee is absent from meetings, a specified
no. of times, his place in the Board is made
vacant. During my absence in Europe my
place was supplied by a gentleman from
Terre Haute and I think there is a preference
to have the Board more nearly together for prompt
attendance.
Hoping thy visit to the South Seas may be
pleasant and profitable, and that the cangaroo [kangaroo]
