[page 3] 3 Washington and Lee University, LEXINGTON, VA. 16 Dec., 1875 my connection with this institution - Prof. Henry offered to give it a set minerals. For the want of a proper place to put them the offer was not taken advantage of. Recently Prof. Mc Culloch wrote to Prof. Henry to know whether the offer was still good, thinking that if we could get some minerals from the Smith- sonian you would have more of the benefaction of our friend to devote to other objects.
