Copy Rochester, April 14 1876 To the Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia, Gentlemen. - Prof. Henry A. Ward of this city will deliver to you herewith Forty five of the Bonds of the Chicago Burlington, & Quincy Railroad Company of One thousand dollars cash - $45,000. This sum being deemed by Prof. Ward sufficient to enable you to provide a suitable Building for a Cabinet of Natural Sciences (with the exception of Botany) and to procure through him, on terms which will be mutually satisfactory, the necessary materiel for such Cabinet, which in extent and in all respects will be well adapted to the purpose of instruction in this department of Education in the University of Virginia. I respectfully tender for your acceptance the Bonds above-mentioned the avails of twenty-five of them to be devoted to the procurement of the material for said Cabinet; the remaining twenty to the creation of a suitable building </s preparing the necessary cases & c. > I am Gentlemen, very respectfully yours.
