Mr. H A Ward
Dear Sir
I send you this day by express from Heaglehurst Miss: A specimen of our lamprey eel which I hope will reach you in safety. I have put it up in whiskey could not procure alcohol at this distance (fifty miles) from the Rail Road. I will return to Pearl river in a month or so + will commence collecting turtles and gar fish for you. You ask the price of alcohol with us, in my business (photography) I pay $4.75 per gallon. 95%, I presume a more dilute article would answer for puting up specimens bottles jars or keys ^also corks^ are also an object with us, it is almost impossible to get them of proper capacity for puting specimens. This spicem I got in Simpson Co Miss from Mr. John Keay's mill creek in Township 1 Range 5. I can also procure you at the same place some fine specimen of trout brim & perch if you wish them. SHould you send me alcohol send it to Brook Heaven Miss also wide mouth bottles jars + kegs, pre pay, + deduct from allowance expense from what you allow me for collection. Birds eggs will be collected + sent in bulk, separated + named, also fossils
You will direct letters as heretofore specified
