Sterling, Montana. Apr 5th 1876 Dear Professor,

  Your telegram Just arrived.

I enclose a copy, in this, of J. B. Wards letter: also my reply:

My interest is well worth $5000 - cash, to me.

& as matters stand, it probably would not be for my interest - to refuse that, in cash: The lodes, above all things else I do not want at any price: & the buildings, as soon as the machinery is taken away, have very little value. , As they have put it up that I would take the immovables. I shall have to allow them something for them. for I do not wish to stop the trade. I have thought, that, should they call for my Proposition, It would be about this -

       My 1/3 interest @ $5000.00

would take the </u immovables > @ $1000.00

                                               as per list sent Selden

all those </u movables > outside of mill & adjuncts 1000.00 cash which I have on hand 500.00 & would ^ask^ in cash from the co 2500.00

                                                                                    _________
                                                                                    $5000
