Buffalo, Feb. 6. 1862
My dear Sir:
Our Society met this evening.
The casts had been [cross out] received, all in good order & placed in one of our cases. And your letter was read. The Society is very grateful for your present. It will be quite useful. It was, perhaps, even more pleased with the sympathy you expressed. It is pleasant to know that we have fellow laborers in the vast field of natural science. You were nom= instead for corresponding member- and, when the months of delay our constitution requires has passed, will be enrolled as such.
My good friend [illegible] [illegible] is
not a member of our Society: but he will be, undoubtedly, if he abandons his intention of leaving
