Aug. 30th 1880 Prof H. A. Ward Rochester N. Y. My dear sir Your letter from Louisville has this moment arrived. I shall give the work on the Mammoth to the painter of whom I wrote you, as being in the end cheaper and better than to have it done by [Clifton?]. He will begin right away and if things work well can finish the job. If not I will [stop?] him and "await developments" myself. In regard to the keys. I packed the lock and both fragments of broken key in the paper box myself. The small end must have been lost when the box was opened. I do not think the other broken key can be found, so await more developments.
