nw 82 lasth 19th December 1882 Jva Henry A. Ward Esq Rochester, N. Y. U. S. America Dear Sir,
On the 23rd Janr'y last, I wrote you a
long letter regarding stuffed Bird skins, prepared and shot in this country, which I am able to sell in case of a demand for them in America - ie Bird skins simply stuffed with tree cotton, not mounted, & cured with arsenical soap.
I also sent you per post, two specimens of stuffed Birds
in a tin can as samples, and 48 postage cent stamps I pay- ment for books or pamphlets out of your catalogue.
Up to this date I am rather astonished that no
notice whatever has been taken of this communication.
I deferred writing you before, knowing that during
latter part of 1881, you were in the East, and perhaps my letter & stuffed specimens were kept in abeyance until your return.
I beg now to call this subject to your attention,
with enquery whether you are in want of prepared Java Bird or Animal skins for your Museum & prices of same deliveries in New York for sailing vessel.
I am perfectly well known to W. O. Hatfield, the
U. S. Consul for Java & its dependencies.
Hoping a speedy answer, I remain, Your obedt: Servant,
