Dear Prof. Ward,
Yours of the 4th is at hand.
Do you think my service at New York would be worth what it would cost you ? I presume that the expense would be in the vicinity of $10., but if you think my assistance with that I presume I am at your disposal. This item is for you alone until I reach Rochester, and it is that my visit is solely on account of a </u young lady > who would like to have me there as soon as possible; but as she is a very sensible girl I presume a day or so more or less would make no difference I can leave here Sunday night and be in New York early in the morning, Please bear in mind that small American Mammals are not my forte; as for other I can bring a book or two along
