Dear Prof. Ward.

    Am just getting

ready for the M. C. Z. lot. There will be about 200 birds altogether, part of which are custom work, part ordered and part on approval. Only two mammals, Thylacinus and Phascvgale. After having had two or three Mt. Goats stuffed I find that there are not over three. real "lusty fellows" among them, although there are many good sized ones in the lot. We had one stuffed for Bierstadt that was a noble old fellow & he. makes the others seem small. by com- parison. I believe that Kanouse has not yet been settled with and write this in order that you may form an estimate of what you wish to pay him. I have given in a previous letter a list of them. Please don't forget to give us full instructions regarding Bulletin for it
