Dear Prof. Ward.
Now is the appointed time for
replying to your long letter of the 15th Aug. which con- gained the article on Hattena and Meggfrod nest both which appeared In Bulletin No. 2. It seemed best to us all to keep the articles exclusively for the Bulletin and nit offer to the Naturalist, in order that we might have as much original matter as pos- bible. Several pieces, including two of mine were crowded out of the number. How about next Bulletin? According to announcement it should be issued by April first and to do that it must be in press by Mar 15. at latest. Now neither you nor Mr. Howell will be here, and yet the thing ought to come out regularly if at all now that you have begun its issue as a periodical. Therefore it seems to me that you have a choice between wo dilemmas, either to have the paper come out without authoritative scrutiny or else to have it delayed. It has taken a great deal more time after the articles were all in to get them in high shape than was at first supposed, for experience proves that the printer is always behind
