Dear Prof. Ward,

  I write as you request in

your card of 4th although there is not very much to report. Theobald's boxes arrived yesterday without any notice having been sent about them. Evidently T. & L. cleared them at New York. The Elephant is a large one with stubby tusks, probably a female. Some epidermis is loose and more will come off when it is stuffed. The two Tigers are females and small. Have taken the larger for Cambridge. Leopard is in rather poor condition. Pteronigt cinerascens & 3 Seiurus malalan'cur apparently all right. Mr Syers cartridges are here, Shall they be sent on. H. wishes to know what, if anything you have written. S. Frank Cowan's books are here also a box of bric a brac apparently from Collins of Detroit. Martens has nearly finished Leather Turtle. Bailey has finished repairing Chimpanzee. Oi looks soo so, but will not stand much hard usage. Webster has done four of Dr. Manigault's
