Your telegram of Saturday com-
pletely paralyzed us. How could you have allowed
the catalogue to all finished, bound & shipped
without ever sending us a page of proof? We
had hosts of additions, corrections & substitutions
to make which if sent to anyone else would
have driven them crazy. And there ^were^ are $35. worth
of advertisements to have gone in & been paid for
in cash. Gone to the d----l now. And our
plate of general view for frontispiece, for which
we are to pay $30 this week - useless. Only two
Judges names, for when we sent copy we
didn't know who the other would be. The
package comes here, where it should have gone
to New York. I never of anyone but
ourselves reading the proof except at the last
moment when it seemed the proof would never
come. Of course you took the trouble to do it
in all kindness, to save us trouble, but we
might to have been told before the copies were
struck off.
