Rochester Feb. 20th 1855 Friend Ward

  It gives me much pleasure to learn

through Br. Munger that you are still in the land of the living & pushing your way through the world, & also to learn that you have the pleasure of visiting the </u Auld World >. & I want to give you a little business if you can make it in your way to visit Amsterdam in Holland. & I think you will be just the fellow to push it. through & succeed if any one would. It is in relation to property that was left to heirs by the name of Crumb it was a very large sum but can't tell anything how much. The name of the dece- ased was Van Allan. Who died about the time that Independence was declared & ^ a letter was^ written on to his friends here to come & claim their property </s & there was no > This Van Allen had but one child & he was in this country by the name of Jacob Van Allen or as they need to be called then I suppose, Van Allen </s so that you> I have written in this way to give the broad sound of A. as in Aw, so if they don't know the name of Van Allen you can give the other sound. this, the said deceased's money was put into the Bank
