[another hand - Collecting Sept 15 with Postal Orders $200.] Sterling, Montana, Aug. 26th 1876. Dear Professor, Your letter of the 13th just arrived. I did not receive your telegram. Probably for the reason that, lately the telegraph co have given up trying to keep the line up & working, & have com- menced to rebuild it. However it is just as well. No word yet from Mr. Wheeler, but he will probably write me, as soon as he receives your letter, referred, to, & Then I will get them right off. He cannot be blamed for writing you, & I am glad he did so; It was hard enough for him, to stand the deduction in price, without having to pay the interest on the amts he was continually importuning me to advance.
