After your return from Europe and the East we will again take up the subject. Will you please be particular to have the smallest fragments preserved.

to me and I will remit at once for the same. As I have no authority to make any expenditures and do so only in promotion of the general interest, you will please cause no further expense to be made than is necessary to put the bones in the very best state of preservation, putting, perhaps, the broken fragments of the tusks together.
