I see a notice
in </u Gervais' Journal de Zoologie >, Tome V, No 2 of the discovery of two new </u Barra- mundi as > in Australia, </s Neo-ceratodus > ^Neoceratodus^ </u Blan chard >, and </u Osteoglossum Guntheri >. The former resemble </u Ceratodus >, inhabits the river Fitzroy and weighs from 40 to 90 pounds. It is often brought to the markets in the town of Rockhampton, and is known under the name of the Fitzroy Barramundi.
The </u Osteoglossum > weighs 25 pounds and
lives in the Dawson river.
These fishes were </s called > ^collected^ by Mr </s Larger > ^Starger*, the
Director of the Museum at Brisbane.
Now I will beg you to write to your
correspondent in Australia and get for me, if possible, specimens of </u Ceratodus > and, </s Neo-Ceratodus >, ^ </u Nevceratodus > ^, if nothing else, at least the
