    I am in receipt

of yours of Feb. 14th.

    The limited instructions which

you mention </s leaving > ^you were going to^ send by mail, as I requested, have not arrived,

& I have thought possible that they

might have been mislaid, or forgotten.

    I received the book & have

given your a/c credit with the price paid, with thanks for your kindness in getting it to me.

    I was very much surprised

over the information in yours of what the Directors of the Midas proposed doing: It was the first intimation that I have had that the co would take stock in Mr Gafney's enterprise, for our Mill.
