Syracuse, Ap'l 14, 1883 Dear Prof. Ward, Yours of yesterday is at hand. I am very sorry to hear that Henry is so badly off. I have regretted that I did not urge him to see the Doctor when I was out at R. for these malarial troubles are more serious than they seem. I shall hope soon to hear that he is better. I have finally decided to write Prof. Wilder and shall send off a letter this P.M. It may help me; and can hardly do much harm. I shall have to have some place to send material if I am to get any. Please send me 40 smallest and 20 next size labels-I have none here. I wrote Wayne for a list of what eggs he could probably furnish after the collecting season, and ordered as noted on his letter.
I now hope to get off about the 23rd or 24th - shall go first to Great Bend, Kansas, stay there a couple weeks, and then gradually westward. If I can have the labels Monday A.M. I will try to send them off by the evening mail. Respectfully yours, Arthur B. Baker P. S. I have ordered a few eggs from S. Howland of Newport, R. I., which will soon be along. He is to send bill - terms cash or Apteryx egg. Many thanks for your kind mention to Prof. Wilder A. B. B.
