Feb. 76 Washington and Lee University LEXINGTON, VA. 16 Feby., 1876 Prof. Henry A. Ward, Rochester, N.Y. Dear Sir: I am in receipt of your letter of the 10th, enclosing a plan of disposition of the the cases for Zoological Hall. The Drawings and specifications show a five foot rack for the Zoological Hall, and six foot rack for the Geological Hall. We propose to make of these dimensions exactly unless we re- ceive other instructions from you. I note, and will attend to, what you say as to single, insread of double, door in vestibule, and shall be glad to have suggestions as to other parts of the work as they may occur to you. I think the Zoological Hall will not be dark when
finished. We propose to [cut?] it
with matched boards instead
of lath and plaster, to obviate
danger from the fall of plaster
from movement of students in
the Lecture room above. We
propose, however, to plaster
ceiling of Geological Hall, as
it has a new roof - and nothing
above it to shake down the plaster.
The tinners are now at work
on this roof, and ought to finish
it in a day or two.
We will try to give the walls
a good color. I did not know
but that you might prefer a
light brown, sandstone color, or some
thing of the kind to grey. I think,
however, that a light French grey is
safer. I trust our friend is relieved of
his troubles - Very truly yrs. C.W.C. Lee
