Dear Prof Ward --

I received yours of Nov 9? and

waited to reply - from the fact that
as my magazine was out and going
over the country - it would be too late to
order. Of course you will please par-
-don delay.

I was sorry not to hear from

you in time to go into this <s>time</s>
No. for 1 took quite a liking to your
class of specimens. The country of Cham-
oury ?- ? ?- must be nice,
I was in that valley once and took
pride in tracing out my route in
the gorges - on one I found there.

I have many friend to see

me and I did want one of those
? other things so much.

There are many things in your
line Id like if I can reciprocate,
or, so as to give you value received
which I think I can. The medicine
is, as you say good - the fact it is
very fare indeed for it is sent
everywhere - Where then are Literary
people - and with ? fine
distant as well as near places.

This week the Magazine has gone

through West Va - thence went to ?-
Wyoming - Cal ? ? all the
? States are in possession
of it. The coming season or next season
my arrangements are to be doubled
or tripled - which will make it still
more valuable for ? purposes.

Of course I cannot take - or

will not insert any kind, or every
class of business - but such as yours
I deem first class and is alright.

I presume we can deal so both

can live by it - and I trust be
the means of doing each other good.

Were you at Milwaukee &

Madison - & where?

Should I pass Rochester I will

call - that is the place of my birth.

As time presents itself

Henry Augustus Ward Papers
A.W23
From 1862 to 1906, Ward’s Natural Science Establishment supplied specimens to natural science museums around the world. The goal of this project is to enable scientists, historians, and archivists to recreate Ward’s inventory by linking 19th century materials and documents at their institutions to the original catalogues, bulletins, and manuscripts.
Original line breaks, punctuation, abbreviations and spelling have been preserved
in the transcriptions and underlining and strikethroughs have been encoded.
Marginalia associated with a photograph or other ephemera has been transcribed
and associated with that object. Other marginalia is tagged "caption" at the
beginning of the relevant date's entry. Words or phrases deemed indecipherable
have been noted as "illegible." Nontextual original content, e.g. drawings and
diagrams, have been noted as such. Images of the original diary pages are
provided to show the creator’s original page layout and placement of
additions.
